Self Portraits of Me, a personal journey.

Me, Mixed Media, Paintingcarla

You guys....

I am stuck painting girls with feathers and flowers in their hair.  I just can't help it. Maybe it is from a rough emotional year?   I am not to sure, but I can tell you that each and every one of these girls is a personal self portrait of me.  How I am feeling that day, what I want to be. Lessons to myself you could say. I am not sure why I am so in love with this "Girl in the Striped Tights Series".  I think it is my personal outlet.  Those that know me well know that I am tight lipped on sharing my own true personal feelings.  Granted, I talk. I talk a lot. In fact, sometimes I can't stop talking, ha, ha....but it usually isn't about deep personal things. These girls are so fun for me to create and therefore I am going to just keep making them.  They make me feel good, and I love sharing them with you.  I feel so blessed to be even creating these little pieces of art. I sure hope you enjoy them as much as I love making them!

Don't you worry though....I am creating other paintings too, silly animals, circle flowers and happy martinis. The children's book is coming along.  It has been much harder than I had anticipated, but it is getting there!  I am currently all caught up on commissions and am buckling down to get ready for these upcoming art festivals.  So nervous and excited all at the same time!

I wanted to share with you a few of my most recent mixed media self -portraits:

Do you have a creative outlet?  I would love to hear what you do to get feelings out.  Write in a journal? Art journaling? Yoga?

Hope you all have a super weekend!  It is suppose to be in the nineties here in the Pacific Northwest!!! I am soooooo excited!!!

Happy Friday

Goldfish Kiss - The progression of a painting

Paintingcarla

Hey guys!  Just finished up a big painting a few days ago.  I forgot how much I LOVE painting big.  I don't get a chance to do it very often because they are hard to sell at art festivals when they won't even fit into your car, ha! ha!  I have several large painting hung in my house, and love them so much!  This one was painted to hang in my living room and is titled "GOLDFISH KISS."  It has about 25 layers of paint on it. It is so freeing to paint like this, large strokes painting over and over.  I called this one my "Outside Muse" because I would often paint on the back patio on sunny summer days.  This painting has taken me almost a year to complete, check it out:

You can see this guy up close and personal, and will be for sale at the Anacortes Arts Festival! Hope to see you there!!!  Happy Summer!

Recent Commissions

Commissions, Paintingcarla

Got a couple of commissions done recently and thought I would share them with you.  Commissioned pieces always make me nervous.  I am always scared that they aren't going to turn out like the client is expecting.

Meet Sid.  This big fur ball looks just like a human!  I think it is his eyes!  Truly looks like someone is wearing a costume! :)  This is second painting I have painted for  a gentleman living in Ohio.  This was such a challenging painting for me to do.  I actually had to have my friend Andy give me some tips on how to make this dog come to life.

browndog1 brown-dog-6

Now it is time to meet "Bla-Bla".....a little girl's favorite stuffed animal.  This family had purchased an original sock monkey and come up with the idea to have me paint their daughters best friend!

Painting Class and more......

Painting, teaching, Travel, UncategorizedcarlaComment

pslOk, I know. I know. I know.  I promised to start blogging more, and once again have not followed through.  Here is my list of excuses this time: the kids went back to school, I have been working more at my "real" job, the sun has been out, my fingers are tired from all my painting, AND last but not least.....(drumroll...) the PSL is now out at Starbucks and I can't stop buying them!!!!!

The weather has been absolutely incredible, and I am having a hard time focusing on art around here lately.  I just finished up two commissioned pieces last week.  (Stay tuned for another post on those)  I decided that since I wasn't really getting much done because of the weather, I would drag my painting outside and actually enjoy it!

psl3psl4

What fun!  Here fishy, fishy!  This painting is obviously a work in progress. If all goes well, I am hanging this one up in my dining room.  I will keep you posted.

I also wanted to let everyone know that I am teaching a class in Poulsbo next month to a wonderful group of ladies. The class is 10-4 on Saturday October 11th.   If you are interested in signing up for this class, please email me at Carla@carlasfunkyart.com.  We will all be learning how to paint on black canvas batik style. Everyone will be leaving class with two acrylic paintings..... "Beach Ladies" where you will learn about painting on black canvas....and "Two Crows" will teach you about acrylic blending.  Lots of great tips, and supplies are all included!

psl6I noticed that there is a half marathon the day after this class and I am seriously thinking about sticking around until the next day...anyone up for a run?

Stay tuned for a peek at some recent commissions!

Happy Friday!

End of Summer, what?

Me, Painting, Travelcarla

I cannot believe it is the end of summer and here we are at LABOR DAY!  We have had the most beautiful season EVER!!!!  I cannot remember when we have had a summer that was this sunny and warm!  Forgive me for the lack of blog posts.  I have been trying to cram in every ray of sunshine into my body that I can!  The last few weeks have been full of road trips, running and trying to enjoy the little bit of summer that we have left.

Last weekend Dan and I headed to the Gorge Ampitheater in George, WA.  I fell in love with Eastern Washington all over again.  I forgot how beautiful it was.  The desert, the sun, the heat....ahhhhhh.  We went to see Jack Johnson and he put on a fabulous show! We even got a surprise performance by Eddie Vedder, so fun! It was Dan's first time to the amphitheater and he loved it!  Can't wait to find a show to see there next year.

I have been trying to get back into running.  It has been a slow progress and I am sad to say that my tendon is still giving me problems.  I am starting to wonder if I will have a chronic injury in that stupid leg of mine.  I have been running through the pain, trying to take it easy on the treadmill and do what I can.  My longest run lately has only been about 5 miles.  I am trying not to get discouraged and try to be grateful that I can run at all.

I have been working on two commissioned pieces that I will share with you next week. Check out this Crazy Ass Bird Lady for now.  She is who I want to be when I grow up.  You know.  The homeless lady sitting on the bench in Central Park.  Yep, that's right....that is gonna be me. Just be sure to flick a coin my way so I can buy some more bird food.

asummer5

It has been raining this weekend, I am not quite sure I am ready for fall.   Check out my awesome new lounge pants that I bought from Other Bird, she makes the most awesome upcycled clothes!!!!  I call them my "curtains" and I LOVE them.  If you swing by the house, you are almost surely going to find me in these!!!

Family, Me, Mixed Media, Paintingcarla2 Comments

Dear Friends,

I was going to start a blog post about my new mixed media painting "Don't Quit Your Daydream".......and talk about dreams, and hopes, and love, and all kinds of inspirational things.

daydream

The truth of the matter is, I just can't do that today.

My heart is heavy.

I recently heard that my cousin was diagnosed with breast cancer.  That makes 5.  Five people I know personally (4 are under the age of 45) that have breast cancer. This is not including the other 4 people I know who have already been through it. I am scared for them, I can't stop thinking of them. I wonder what in the world is going on. Why are so many women getting this?  We don't need anymore breast cancer awareness, I think we are all quite aware.  We need more funding in breast cancer kicking ass treatment.

I cancelled my vendor booth space today at the farmers market to go to a fundraiser for one of my friends to help with medical bills.  I often wonder how I could financially make it something like that.

My thoughts today are not of inspiration and daydreams, my thoughts are with these women who have to be brave and take one day at a time.    I wish I could say something to them to make them feel better, hell....I wish I was better with saying something at all!  I am awful with words and everything comes out in a big jumbled, awkward sentence.  I am not very good with communicating with words, so perhaps that is why I paint! :)  So on that note.....I am sending positive vibes and hugs to all of you!

Thank you Anacortes!

Holy smokes it has been quite a week!  I just wanted to do a quick thank you shout out to Anacortes!  What a great festival it was last weekend.  I was so excited to be a part of Ink Alley, the first Indie Craft Area!  Dan and I had a great time, learned the ropes of attending and being a part of such a big festival.  We have a lot to learn when it comes to competing with the big wigs!  I loved everything about Ink Alley.  All of the indie crafters were so talented!  I couldn't decide what I liked the most....the yeti heads or the stuffed wiener dogs, so fun!  Here are a few pics below of the event.  All and all it was a huge success and THANK YOU to all who came out and attended!!!  I sure hope I get in next year!

Anacortes Arts Festival

Me, Paintingcarla

You guys!  I am so nervous.  I think I am a bit out of my league.  I signed up for Ink Alley, a new addition to the Anacortes Arts Festival for indie craft artists.  I have never even come close to participating in a show this big and am sweating it big time!   I couldn't even sleep last night.  So many questions running around in my head.  Did I make enough prints? Did I make enough blocks?  What if nobody comes in my booth? What if it is a total bust?  What if it isn't?  Will I have enough bags?  Will people think my art is dumb? What if they don't like it?  How am I suppose to get though the next few days?  I am scared, excited and nervous all at the same time.

Nothing like throwing it all out there.  On my blog, and at my booth this weekend.

Wish me luck. I need it.

Thank You Friday Harbor!

WHAT A FABULOUS WEEKEND!!!!  Thank you Friday Harbor for your continued support of my art!  I really can't thank you enough!  We had such a wonderful time visiting for the weekend.  I forgot just how beautiful the people and the island are.  There are so many people to thank for our successful weekend.  First of all I would like to do a special SHOUT OUT to Becky Nash for letting us camp on her property, without you we would have never been able to pull it off.  I would also like to thank the San Juan Chamber of Commerce for inviting us to come and spend the weekend at the festival.  Thank you to the San Juan County Sheriffs office (for their amazing employee....otherwise known as Dan, hee, hee....), all the amazing vendors, Island Rec for their super crazy awesome BUBBLE BLOWER!  Everyone working together made a successful art festival.  We even survived the rain storm on Friday night and Saturday Morning!  YAY for weighed tents!

Dan and I were able to go and check out our old stomping grounds in the evenings.  We went by our old house, visited the west side (thank you MOTHER NATURE for sharing your double rainbow!)  ate at MiCasita's and Road Riggers, our two favorite restaurants!  Two thumbs up for Chicken Gorgonzola Salad!

I miss you so much San Juan Island, until next time!!!

A Struggling Buddha

Painting, Uncategorizedcarla5 Comments

Started this Buddha painting a few weeks ago and cannot quite pull it together. Ok, that is an understatement....this painting has me reeling.  I have been adding layer after layer and feel like it is going nowhere.  The face just seems to be hanging there, I have tried adding a body, a neck....an open lotus flower, a closed lotus flower and so on.  I hate when this happens.  Nothing seems to be flowing right.  I have picked up this painting here and there...add a little, take a little away.  It is funny how easily I will begin to think negative thoughts of myself as an artist.  I begin to tell myself that I not very good, who do I think I am, of course I can't finish this painting...I am not a "real artist."  Once those thoughts start rushing in, it all starts going downhill.

Do you ever feel like you aren't worthy?  The ironic thing about my negativity is the fact that I am painting a Buddha.  A lover of peace and happiness; I am feeding my painting negative thoughts..........hmmmmmmmmm.

I guess I am not sure what to do with it.  Sometimes I just want to write a bad word on it and toss it in the corner.  I don't want to give up but I am starting to think that maybe this painting doesn't want to be a Buddha, maybe it wants to be something else.....

buddhabuddhaArtist block on this one for sure...I am up for any suggestions.  Your thoughts on this?  What do you do when you get stuck?

Weekends are Flying Fast!

Art Journaling, Farmers Market, Paintingcarla

Holy Smokers.....the weekends are flying by like a whirlwind!  Last weekend was so crammed, I can't believe we made it through!  We started off the weekend with the Fish Show here in Anacortes.  I could not believe how many people were out and about for First Friday Art Walk, YAY!  Swarms of people everywhere!  So amazing to see people supporting local art! I paid Ally to be my date for the night..(which she did for 5 minutes and then ended up ditching me for friends)...here we are loving my mermaid painting, ha! ha!

weekend1

After checking out the Fish Show, I did hit several studio's to check out some other local artists.  KP Studio's had the high school student show for spring.  My daughter's friend Breanna Blakely made this amazing sculpture!  I told Ally to make sure to stay friends with her so we can have her autograph things when she is famous! Go Breanna!!! :)

weekend7

On Saturday, I spent most of the day at the market by myself. :(  This is pretty unusual because Dan is almost always with me.  He was suffering from "Pain in the Ass" syndrome.  Literally!  He fell on his tailbone a few weeks ago at Absolute Air, a trampoline park in Arlington.  He was trying to be all "hip and cool" and showed the kids how to do a double back flip jumpy thing, but things went horribly awry. Instead of landing on his feet....he landed...well.....on his butt with his legs in the air............ON THE METAL BAR that had maybe a centimeter of padding!!!!  AGH!!!!  He bruised his Coccyx and is having a REALLY HARD TIME (snicker, snicker).  Instead of sharing a picture of his butt, I will spare you and provide this photo of my booth at the market... (you owe me)

weekend

After the market, I dropped off Ally at the Catapult Fest, a music concert at the Port Warehouse.  I was suppose to go and watch her friend Pearl Tottenham open for the show but I ended up giving up my tickets to my daughter's friends. (that is whole other story, but I can tell you I got the better end of the bargain.)  Pearl and Ally have been friends for a long time.  I can remember when Pearl would be belting out of tune songs in the car in grade school!  So amazing that she was able to preform at the concert, and pretty bummed that I missed it! Here is a flyer that I found in town:

Sunday was cleaning out the garage day, which was much needed!  We now can park in there AND open our car doors!  YAY US!

I did get a few hours of down time and was able to get some art journaling in...here are couple of pages:

P.s. My brother Clayton really did graduate Valdictorian....and I hate him for being such a SMARTYPANTS!!!!!!  No fair!!!!  How come I have to the be the flighty air-head artist one???

Hope you guys all had a great weekend too!  We are gearing up for another crazy weekend ahead....only this time??? Seattle, visit with out-of-state relatives, a market and TWO BIRTHDAYS!!!!  AGH!!!!  Stay tuned, I am slowing going out of my mind, so the next blog post should be interesting!!! :)

Painting, Runningcarla

Yay, we all made it through another week!  I was able to finish up my "Fish" show paintings that I will share with you next week.  I did several other paintings done as well. It has been a struggle lately to get new work completed and still manage to work my part-time job.  I typically only have a day or two to paint every week, and to be honest, I am nervous for the summer shows!

I am still on track for beating Scott with the fitbit this week (see previous blog post), and I even earned my 20,000 steps in a day badge! Yay!

daisies

Two of my favorite things....daisies and running shoes.  So far so good with my leg, I ran a few more times and no problems!!!

Are you guys sitting down?  You won't believe what I am about to tell you!!!!

I painted a bubble tree this week.  I don't paint them very often....but they are my biggest seller and I feel like I should have them for the Friday Harbor and San Juan Island Art Festivals this summer!  Why don't I paint them very often you ask?  Well, for two reasons.... one, they take me forever, and second, I have painted a ton of them and they don't seem as special anymore.  So on that note, I am making the original bubble tree more of a rarity, and selling prints.

bubble-tree-flip-flopsYes, that is me in my pajamas!  Sometimes I am way more motivated if I just grab a cup of coffee and head right up to the studio.  I have this bad habit of getting side tracked and distracted!  I will start cleaning the house, then hang out on Instagram and before I know it, it is 2:00 p.m.

Today is cleaning the house day and getting ready for my mixed media class tomorrow!  YAY!!!   I am so excited to meet everyone and I know we are going to have a wonderful time!  Stay tuned for some photos next week!  We will hopefully getting two paintings a piece done tomorrow!

Hope you guys all have a wonderful weekend!  Fingers crossed for sunny days ahead!

Family Art Days!

Mixed Media, Painting, teachingcarla

Had a wonderful time teaching at Mona this last weekend!  Family Art Days was a success!  I was a bit nervous to teach this class due to the different ages, anywhere from age 5 to adult.  The children in the class seemed very interested, and the adults loved playing around with all that paint.  So grateful to able to share some of my process with others and see the excitement towards creating art!  I remember when I was little and wanting to be a famous artist, that is all I would think about!!! :)   Here are a few photos from the weekend!

FADFAD1FAD3Our workshop consisted of learning how to draw basic animals with basic shapes, how to use paper for decoupage and collage, and how to paint your animal!  So fun!

A big shout out thank you to the Museum of Northwest Art and all the families that participated!  Oh, and HUGE thank you to Dan who ran my farmers market booth BY HIMSELF on opening day!!  It must be TRUE LOVE! :)

Kindred Spirits....

I was thinking about my grandmother the other day.  Gosh, it has been a long time and I miss her.  She was such a funny lady to me.  Half the time I was scared to death of her and the other half of the time she was all "grandmotherly".  She was an owl-loving, country music listenin' lady  who knew how square dance with the best of them.   I grew up way out in the country and my grandparents lived next door on our property.  I feel so blessed to have grown up with them and I could go on for days about some of our funny adventures.    They taught me so many family values and lessons in life.

There are two things that  really stick out when I think about my grandma.  First, was the fact that she sat down and took the time to read me the whole series of "Little House on the Prairie" by Laura Ingalls Wilder.  Ooohhhh how I wanted to be Laura!  I would go to bed at night and pray that I would wake up with pa and ma, and we would eat syrup from trees and ride in a covered wagon.  I spent many years as a little girl longing for life on the prairie! I would run over to house right after school so we could sit down and read.  Second, she and I would watch Anne of Green Gables. (and Anne of Avonlea).  When I was in elementary school I can remember being sick a lot.  Asthma and colds would keep me home from school for days.  So thankful that I have out grown it.  Almost every time I was home sick my grandma would let me borrow her VHS movies...(yes, it was THAT LONG AGO)  I must have watched those movies a million times.  Sometimes she would walk over and check on me, bring me homemade bread and and watch them with me.  She would always chuckle at Anne's crazy rants and would tell me over and over that she knew someday she would get a red-headed grandchild!  She really, really, really wanted a red-haired grandchild, I have no idea why.  Secretly she must have been crazy because RED HEADED children are little spit-fires! Ha! Ha!

My favorite part of this book and movie (besides the dead rat in the plum pudding sauce, but how can I paint that?) was Anne's love for "kindred spirits"......so here is my latest brave girl painting:

P.s. Just had to add that cute little pug to remind Dan that he still needs to buy me one!

Happy Tuesday!

Big Old Painting in Progress

PaintingcarlaComment

Hey  guys....remember this canvas?  Been a while since I have been able to work on it!  it has been so long I honestly can't remember when I started it. The kids love it and are constantly nagging at me to finish it, but have been so busy getting ready for the summer season!  Took some time last night to work on it.  I love painting BIG!  There is just something about a large canvas in front of me that makes my heart leap for joy!  Working with layers on a huge white canvas always jogs my memory that there are no mistakes.  This type of bold large painting is a fun way that helps me relax and let the painting tell me what it wants to do.  Painting gigantic is really my "happy place", even though my time, and wallet want to tell me something different.  Maybe I should start listening to my inner voice. Below are a few pictures of the painting in progress.  A few more layers and now I am beginning to work on details.  Stay tuned.  My goal for this "bad-boy" is to have it done by the end of May!

P.s. Can you believe it? Another blog post???  Yep, I am REALLY TRYING HARD to turn it around.  My goal is 2-3 posts a week and I expect you guys to get on my case if I haven't done it!  Bring on the blogging!  Hip-Hip-Hooray!

Happy Late Easter....

Me, Mixed Media, Painting, UncategorizedcarlaComment

Well, late as usual to wish you all a Happy Easter.  Time just seems to get a way from me.  Seriously can't believe we are midway (or more) through April.  Not even really sure what happened in March. The weather seems to come and go.  Sometimes I believe we are in Spring, and before you know it, heavy cold rain is falling down reminding me of Winter. So ready for some warmer temperatures around here.  Right around this time of year I tend to get ants in my pants and want to start wearing my shorts and flip flops.   The tulips are blooming in Skagit Valley so we must definitely be in SPRING!

I have been swamped getting ready for the summer art festivals and market this year.  Truly nervous to throw all of this new art out to you.  I have been trying to overcome my fears, take a deep breath and go with it.  Every year at this time I am overwhelmed with doubt.  I have doubts that my paintings won't sell,  fears that people won't like it and second guess even trying to make it as a part time artist.  Believing in myself is one thing that I can honestly say I can't seem to wrap my head around.   I wish inside I was a more courageous stronger person. I feel that if I just believed in my art there may be a whole world of opportunities and possibilities, but it such a scary step to take.  I hope I am not the only one that feels like this. I don't think I am, I have a feeling there are many artists out there kind of floundering like me wondering where there lot in life is.  My word for the year was PRODUCTIVE.  So far so good.  I made a promise to myself to stay focused, don't be quite as scared ( I will always be a little scared I think), take a deep breath and throw it all out there.  I am moving into more emotional pieces, painting for me.....lots of layers, lots of love and hours of work.  Bright funny paintings will always be incorporated into my work, so old fans do not worry!

Next month I will be venturing into new territory as well.  I am teaching several mixed media courses.  I have taught art classes to children in the past, but these mixed media classes will be new.  The first one is May 10th at the MONA art museum in La Conner.  Both classes filled up quickly with over 40 people on the waiting list!  AGH!  I have a feeling this will be a challenging workshop  for me because I will have from ages 5 to adult all working in the same class!  On May 31st I will also be holding a class here in my studio.  This class is so exciting for me as an artist. A small group of ladies and I will spend the day painting together. I can't wait to show them my painting process... We will cover all kinds of background painting, how to paint with papers, and creating whimsy into our paintings.  Dan is going to be our personal servant and delivering our catered lunch, chocolate covered strawberries, and whatever we desire! I am currently making them little gifts....so cute!

This week I will have finished up my summer calendar.  I will post it on the website so you know where to find me.  Stay tuned!  Here are a few picture of some recent work and Dan and I tiptoeing through the tulips. (dang we are adorable!)

I only have two spots left!!!!!  If you would like more information on this class, I  have added a "classes" tab at the top of my website.

Dan is going to be our personal servant....he is providing our catered lunch, and is going to wait on us hand and foot.  Yahooooo!  Seriously though, this is going to be a wonderful small class in my studio and I can share some secrets about layering and mixed media.  If you are interested, please email me at Carla@carlasfunkyart.com.

Welcome April

Farmers Market, Mixed Media, Paintingcarla

Welcome Spring!  Yep, pretty much been forever since I have been on here.  So busy between art and my ortho job.  Lots going on with the family too!  The kids are busy in activities, parents have been sick, and there just doesn't seem like there is enough time in the day.

I don't have a ton of time this morning but I wanted to share some recent art that I have been working on!

Koi

Dan and I also did a quick trial run a few weeks ago with some new additions to our art booth, what do you think?

I wish we would have added the back wall when we took the picture but some people commented that they like how open the space was.  We are gearing up for the farmers market that begins next month.  I sat down and went over our summer schedule.  We are booked every weekend from May 10th until September!  AGH!!!!  Gonna be one CRAZY summer!  I can't wait!!  We added some extra art festivals this season.  I am currently working on a schedule so you are able to find me!

I am also starting to teach classes, so stay tuned for more information.

Happy Spring!

What's New? Oh ya, that's right, the SEAHAWKS WON the SUPER BOWL!!!!

Family, Me, PaintingcarlaComment

Been pretty much forever since I have done a blog post.  I have a confession to make.  My computer is dying.  Well not actually dying, but it sure is on its last leg.  I am using a MacBook Pro that was built in 1920.  It is sooooo super old, and now has a million photos on it and runs super s--l--o--w.  So slow it makes me not even want to get on here and share things with you.  The good news is that I am actually going shopping to get a new computer this month.  I have been saving, saving, saving! Yeah me!  I wish I could buy another Mac, but it isn't in the budget this year.

Sooooo if you haven't heard already, THE SEAHAWKS WON THE SUPER BOWL!!!  What?  What?  What?  I can't believe it, soooooooooo exciting!!!!  I never thought it would happen in my lifetime!!!! Yahoooo!!!  My Facebook friends like to give me a hard time and tell me that I am not a Seahawks fan because I always complain when the games are on.  What they don't know is that I am always jealous when the Seahawks are on TV!  I am frugal and refuse to pay for cable, therefore I never GET TO SEE THE GAMES!!!!  I grew up with football always on at the house (with the VOLUME on MAX), and I truly miss it every winter!  We did get to watch the playoffs and Super Bowl this year by inviting ourselves other people's homes!!!!  Good thing I have nice friends!  (thank you Longchamps and Posts!)

GO HAWKS!

My 12th man "Beast Mode" hair!!!!

I wanted something "cutesy" for the house, because some girls like pretty things...hee...hee...I painted this sign with watercolor.....

I still CAN'T BELIEVE WE WON!

Ok, what else has been happening around here??  Let's see.....

Our friends Steve and Andy came to visit last weekend from Seattle, that was fun.   The main reason for the visit was so Andy could show off his kick-ass Camaro.  Sorry for the bad language...but when you say Camaro you kinda have to say kick-ass at the same time.  They kinda go hand in hand......

Like this: Andy's Kick-Ass Camaro.

I even got to ride in it!!!  (I kinda peed a little when we went fast, but don't tell)  We had a great day, minus the fact that Andy won $600.00 bucks at the casino while I proceeded to lose $60.00.  Hmmmm.....AND THAT is why I SHOULDN'T GAMBLE.  I am the world's BIGGEST LOSER.....(and not in the skinny way either!)

I also have been super busy with some recent commissioned pieces.  Here are some of the latest:

That pretty much sums up what I have been doing lately.  26 more days until I see the orthopedic surgeon for my running injury last summer. I can't wait!!!  I just want to get fixed and hit the pavement again. Who knows, maybe I will still be able to pull off a marathon this next summer. (wishful thinking? I think yes.)

Happy Thursday!!!
